Poker Stars Affiliate Program with MGR?

PokerStars Affiliate Program

Updated 6/4/08 – Back from vacation I noticed another rakeback thread on the PAP forums where we get a post from Carly that while Poker Stars does not allow rakeback, but that they do seem to indeed offer MGR (nice!!).

MGR’s offered to Supa Affiliates only, with no rakebackers what so ever, nor do they provide the means to the affiliates to calculate rakeback amounts.

Rakeback is absolutely not allowed at PokerStars and in no way would we work with an affiliate who provided this. Affiliates who are on revenue share receive no individual tracker information, and nor will we confirm that a particular player is signed up to the affiliate.

PokerStars never has, and never will work with affiliates who claim to
provide rakeback to players, and nor will affiliates have the means to do so.

Any PokerStars affiliate founds to be offering rakeback would be in
violation of our terms and subject to termination.

Carly

Here is the original thread: Does pokerstars allow rakeback or not where I pulled Carly’s response.

I have to be honest, when I asked about it I was told it wasn’t even possible… I guess I’m not a “Super Affiliate”. I have no idea what MGR PokerStars offers, but I would expect it to be around 30%.

Word on the streets threads at Poker Affiliate Programs is that Poker Stars.com is considering going to an MGR offering… I of course touched base with the AM, but for the short term, that seems to be shot down right now according to the message I received from my AM. I’ve got what she said and a link to her post in the PAP forums in the article…

PokerStars.com has to be one of the most well retaining poker rooms of any online as they are by far the largest and offer no kind of rake back and they still dominate the online poker world. Being an affiliate for PokerStars is competitive and the reason why is the huge scale up of CPA’s offered.

Here is the standard Poker Stars Affiliate Program CPA:

  • 1 to 24 $75 per player
  • 25 to 49 $110 per player
  • 50 to 75 $150 per player
  • 76 to 99 $200 per player
  • 100 to 149 $225 per player
  • 150 to 199 $250 per player
  • 200 to 249 $275 per player
  • 250+ $300 per player

These player numbers are for your qualified players which means that they have earned 100 FPP’s. There is not an MGR offering available yet at PokerStars.com and here is what Carly Says on the PAP forums..

The affiliate program for poker stars is one everyone should be a member of, but there are a few considerations.

Sign up through the PAW Network to promote Poker Stars. You get the same CPA rate but you can utilize the sick freerolls that are offered to members of the PAW network. You can not promote through the PAW network if you establish an affiliate account with Poker Stars directly so unless there is a compelling reason why you want to go direct it is a virtual no brainer to sign up through the PAW network and promote Poker Stars, as well as some other major online poker rooms.

FullTiltPoker Pisses Off Affiliates

February 19, 2008

Full Tilt Poker Affiliates say NOOn Friday, February 15th, FullTiltPoker.com sent out their affiliate newsletter that told us that starting April 1st, any player who does not make a deposit within the first 60 days will no longer be tracked to the affiliate.

Well… that’s not exactly how they said it… I’ll just cut and paste the snippet from the newsletter here and then go into details about this latest thing to hit the poker affiliate world.

As an affiliate, we want to make sure you get the credit you deserve for directing real-money players to Full Tilt Poker.

Our Affiliate Agreement defines a real money player as someone who makes their first real money deposit within 60 days of signing up on our site.

Beginning April 1st, any player who waits longer than 60 days to make their first deposit will not be credited to any affiliate account. Make sure you don’t lose any of the credit – or players – you deserve. Use our promotions and advice to help turn your play money accounts into real money in your pockets.

Now, here is where it gets interesting. They try to spin it by saying ‘as an affiliate we want to make sure you get the credit you deserve for directing real-money players to Full Tilt Poker” and then they go on to say that going forward they will no longer give credit past 60 days.

They also later insult us by saying they are just now enforcing this rule as they finally have the technology to implement it… Riiiiight.

Full Tilt Poker Affiliates say NOCome on FullTiltPoker – you are smarter than that, at least address with the understanding that we are competing in one of the most competitive affiliate markets online and that we have a certain level of intelligence!

This has turned into an epic FullTiltPoker Affiliates 60 Day Tracking thread over at PAP, with many affiliates unhappy.

I checked some stats and saw that around 18-28% of converting players came from beyond 60 days, and virtually all affiliates are reporting similar numbers.

It’s a shame, too, because they offer so many other quality features in an enjoyable software, good brand name, and players like to play there… but they really seem to see affiliates as competitors and not partners as all of their recent moves seem designed to maximize their cut of the players value and minimize ours.

Nell – the FTP Rep responds on the boards on page 22…. the affiliates are not pleased.

We shall see how this turns out. For now I will focus my efforts on other poker rooms and see what becomes of FullTiltPoker as the dust clears a bit more and we hear from some of the heavy hitters in the industry, like our man Jeremy Enke himself. *Jeremy Removes FullTiltPoker.com from PAP and the Forums… found on page 25 of the now epic thread. He also calls out directly to the Full Tilt Poker CEO to contact him ASAP on this issue.

I think Justin says it best himself in post 226 – Don’t Insult our Intelligence FullTilt and John H weighs in here with some well thought out rationale about the whole situation

*Updated 2/27 – Jeremy blogs about what the hell to do about this Full Tilt Poker 60 day policy.

*Updated 3/11/08 – Nell the FullTiltPoker Affiliate Rep Responds to Dealer Dan’s question on definition of a Real Money Player.
